In the summer of
1977, and at his mother's request, Ron Dudley, the eldest son of
Virginia Jackson, had driven up to Lake Vallecito to have a look
at some property for sale. That evening, he phoned home
encouraging her to make the purchase of Semke's Circle S
Steakhouse, Cocktail Lounge, and Lodge at Vallecito Lake,
stating that he was "... eagerly looking forward to
becoming a part of the new family operation!"
|
|
Two days later, Ron was tragically killed
in an automobile accident.

|
Virginia and her three remaining children
were devastated by this turn of events. They nearly abandoned
their future plans for the restaurant & lodge until,
finally, and after much heartfelt discussion, they decided that
going forward with the endeavor is what Ron would have wanted.
And so, in the fall of that same year, Virginia Jackson, the
single mom of four, proceeded to put her Farmington home on the
market and purchase what was eventually to become Virginia's
Steakhouse & Circle S Lodge!

Virginia stood with her family loyally
by her side, and staring into the face of a huge challenge.

1993 - Steve Dudley and Virginia Jackson
|
The wheels began turning and, soon, there emerged a sound
revision of the original game plan:
Steve, who was 18 at the time, had cooking experience, so he
would be Chef.
Sister Marilyn was short in stature but tall on personality and
good looks ... at 21 yrs of age, she would be bartender.
The youngest son, Pancho, would be in charge of grounds maintenance,
and managing the Trout
Pond.
And Virginia Jackson was the glue. Her magical touch was
everywhere. A natural customer relations guru, Virginia's cheery
demeanor just seemed to strike a friendly chord with patrons who
linger patiently in waiting anticipation that she would soon
connect by sharing her unique and witty views on current events,
local issues, or even a personal poke of fun!
